Russia-U.S. business partnership has huge potential, bilateral trade already begins to grow under Trump - Putin

ANCHORAGE. Aug 16 (Interfax) - Russia and the United States have many "interesting areas of joint work" in the economic sector, and bilateral trade, although at minimal levels, has already begun to grow, Russian President Vladimir Putin said following his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska.

"By the way, with the arrival of the new U.S. administration, our bilateral trade has started to increase. All this is still symbolic, but still - plus 20%," Putin said.

"It is obvious that the Russian-American business and investment partnership has huge potential. Russia and the United States have a lot to offer each other in trade, energy, digital sector, high technology, and space exploration. Cooperation in the Arctic and the resumption of interregional contacts, including between our Far East and the American West Coast, also seem relevant," Putin said.

"In general, it is important and necessary for our countries to turn over the page and resume cooperation," Putin said.
