Trump-Putin meeting a chance to reset U.S.-Russia relationship - Dmitriev

WASHINGTON. Aug 14 (Interfax) - The upcoming meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin could enable the two countries to "reset" their relations, the Russian president's Special Envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries Kirill Dmitriev said on Thursday.

"It is also a chance to reset US-Russia relations if the meeting goes well," Dmitriev told CNN.

The dialogue between Washington and Moscow is "very important," he said. In his view, the Trump-Putin talks are a "very positive meeting for the world," Dmitriev said. He also stressed the importance of the U.S. being able "to hear the Russian position directly."

"There are lots of misunderstandings, misinformation about the Russian position," Dmitriev said.

Trump and Putin will hold talks in Alaska on Friday.
