Russian-Kyrgyz trade declines - Kyrgyz deputy PM

CHOLPON-ATA. Aug 14 (Interfax) - Bilateral trade between Kyrgyzstan and Russia has declined, Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiyev said at the two countries' economic forum on Thursday.

"A certain decline in bilateral trade was observed from January to May 2025. It requires joint analysis and development of effective measures of support," Amangeldiyev said.

Russian-Kyrgyz trade stood at nearly $3.9 billion in 2024, which signifies the sides' mutual interests and vast prospects for further cooperation, he said.

"Our bilateral relations with Russia, which is one of our key trading partners, continue to strengthen. Our trade and economic relations are built on the basis of international treaties and the principles of the Eurasian Economic Union [EAEU], the Free Trade Area and the [World Trade Organization] WTO. This legal framework ensures the stability and transparency of cooperation and opens up additional opportunities for growth and investment," he said.

Social and economic indicators have been demonstrating stable and confident growth since the EAEU was established, he said.

"The GDP of the union's countries has grown by 17.8%, the unemployment rate has dropped to 3%, which confirms that their integration policy is efficient and promising. Growth has been observed in all key sectors of the economy, which positively impacts our states' development and stability," Amangeldiyev said.
