Russian PM to attend Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting in Kyrgyzstan on Fri

MOSCOW. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will take part in a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Cholpon-Ata on August 15 as part of his official visit to Kyrgyzstan, the Russian government's press service said.

"The agenda includes current tasks of deepening integration in the Eurasian Economic Union, including in the field of customs regulation, transport, exchange trading, common markets of medicines and medical goods, and environmental protection," it said.

The Intergovernmental Council will hold the 43rd meeting since the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union on January 1, 2015, and the second meeting this year, the press service said. The previous meeting took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on January 30-31, 2025.

Belarus is presiding in the EAEU, including the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, this year.

"Eurasian Economic Union observer states are due to attend the Intergovernmental Council meeting," the press service said.

The meeting participants are expected to agree on a concept for the development of the EAEU common markets of medicines and medical goods, it said.

They will also "approve a program for the development of exchange trading in the common exchange (organized) market of commodities in the EAEU," it said.

"The sides will consider an update of the action plan for the implementation of main areas and stages of the agreed (approved) transport policy of EAEU member states for 2024-2026," it said.

Additionally, meeting participants will discuss the implementation of approaches to climate agenda regulations.
