Moscow court fines Telegram 7 mln rubles for failure to remove content banned in Russia
MOSCOW. Aug 11 (Interfax) - Moscow's Tagansky District Court has found the Telegram messenger guilty of failing to take down content banned in Russia, the court's press service said in a statement.
"The judge ordered that Telegram Messenger Inc. be fined 7 million rubles as an administrative penalty," the statement said.
The messenger was found guilty under two protocols of failure to remove information or a webpage if the obligation to remove such information is envisioned by Russian law.
Earlier, Telegram was repeatedly fined in Russia for various violations, including failure to take down prohibited content.
