Trump says Azerbaijan, Armenia to sign peace agreement at meeting in White House

WASHINGTON. Aug 8 (Interfax) - A peace summit to be attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is due to take place at the White House on Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump said.

Aliyev and Pashinyan "will join me at the White House for an official peace signing ceremony," Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.

"Many Leaders have tried to end the war, with no success, until now," he said.

Trump said that his administration has been working with both sides for quite a long time.

In addition to the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, bilateral economic agreements will be signed between the U.S. and each country, he said.

"It will be a historic day for Armenia, Azerbaijan, the United States, and the world," Trump said.
