Kazakhstan's Texol Group starts building railcar component foundry
ASTANA. Aug 4 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's Texol Group will build a foundry in Atyrau to produce up to 60,000 tonnes of railcar components per year, the Atyrau regional governor's press office said.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Texol Steel Technology foundry took place on Monday.
"The new foundry will produce steel cast parts for railway cars, aiming to localize the production of components previously imported from abroad," the press release says.
The primary raw materials, which are scrap metal and ferroalloys, will be sourced from Kazakh suppliers. The plant is expected to start operating in 2027.
Governor of the Atyrau region Serik Shapkenov said the project would localize 96% of railcar component production and create over 500 jobs.
Texol Steel Technology and Atyrau Railcar Manufacturing Plant are part of Texol Group's railway cluster, which also includes the Ak-Zhayyk railcar repair depot, the West Terminal liquefied petroleum gas storage facility, a transport company and other enterprises. Texol Group, which has operated in Kazakhstan since 1995, brings together more than 20 companies. Its core business is railway logistics.
