Radiation levels at ZNPP and adjacent area normal - ZNPP

SIMFEROPOL. July 30 (Interfax) - The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) denied the reports on an alleged increase in the radiation levels at the plant, the plant said on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.

"In connection with the publication in some public sources of false information on radiation levels, we officially state that the radiation level at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and on the adjacent territories is within the natural norm," the plant said in its statement.

The level of gamma radiation is 0.09- 0,11 microsievert per hour, which poses no threat to the population or the environment and is characteristic of this locality, ZNPP representatives said, citing monitoring data.

"The information on an alleged increase in the radiation level disseminated in some publics and channels is not true and is unfounded," representatives of the plant said.

The Zaporozhye NPP with six VVER-1000 reactor units is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It stopped generating electricity on September 11, 2022. All six reactors are in a cold shutdown. All plant facilities are incorporated into the Zaporozhye NPP federal state unitary enterprise and owned by Russia. The Zaporozhye NPP Operator, founded by Rosatom's Rosenergoatom, runs the plant.
