Hackers' claim to have stolen personal data of Aeroflot clients not confirmed yet - Roskomnadzor

MOSCOW. July 28 (Interfax) - The hackers' claims that personal details of Aeroflot clients or employees have been compromised during an attack on the company's information systems have not yet been confirmed, the Russian telecoms watchdog Roskomnadzor said in a statement on Monday.

"Roskomnadzor is following the situation. The miscreants' messages about personal data of the company's clients or staff having been compromised have not been proved by facts yet," the statement said.

Roskomnadzor is "waiting for information from Aeroflot and will make a decision whether a check needs to be carried out, considering all circumstances," it said.

This morning Aeroflot said it had to reschedule or cancel its flights due to a glitch in its computer systems.

After that a number of media outlets reported that two hacker groups claimed responsibility for hacking into the company's information infrastructure.

The reports about a supposed hacker attacks on Aeroflot's information system were quite alarming, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

At midday the Russian Prosecutor General's Office said it had opened a criminal case under Criminal Code Article regarding unlawful access to computer information following a hacker attack on Aeroflot's information web services, which led to flight delays and cancellations at the Sheremetyevo airport.

Also, as instructed by the Prosecutor General's Office, the Moscow Inter-Regional Transport Prosecutor's Office has taken charge of the situation involving over 80 flight delays and about 60 flight cancellations.
