Russia exports 53 mln t of grain in 2024/25 season, incl. 44 mln t of wheat - Agriculture Minister

CHITA. July 22 (Interfax) - Russia exported 53 million tonnes of grain in the 2024/2025 agricultural year, including 44 million tonnes of wheat, Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut said at a meeting that Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin held in Chita on Tuesday.

"This is generally in line with the average results of our exports in the past five years," she said.

Lut emphasized that Russia remained the global leader on the wheat market following the results of the season. "The same task is set for the current season. Overall, our strategic goal is to maintain leadership in wheat supplies worldwide," she said.

Recalling that Russia set a record for barley exports last agricultural year, Lut said that a good harvest of the crop is expected this year. "We hope to repeat this record," she said.

Russia currently exports grain to 108 countries, 70 of which import Russian wheat, Lut said.

"We continue to expand the geography of exports. There were 11 new countries last year and shipments resumed to seven countries that had stopped buying our grain," she said.

Russia harvested 125.9 million tonnes of grain, including 82.6 million tonnes of wheat, in 2024 (not including new regions), the Federal Statistics Service reported. The Agriculture Ministry reported that the harvest totaled 129.8 million tonnes with new regions.
