UK sanctions Lukoil's Dubai sales division
MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax) - The UK has sanctioned Litasco Middle East DMCC, the Dubai-based sales division of Russia's Lukoil .
The UK government said on its website that the assets of Litasco Middle East would be considered frozen as of July 21 and that the company had also been forbidden from providing trust services.
The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) of the UK's HM Treasury also issued a license permitting Litasco Middle East to wind down its operations by September 18.
Media reported in May that Litasco Middle East could have also been included in the EU's sanctions list, but was omitted from the 17th package of sanctions against Russia due to objections by Hungary.
The UK also imposed sanctions on Intershipping Services LLC, which the government claimed was responsible for registering a "shadow fleet" shipping Russian exports under the flag of Gabon. According to the press release, the vessels of Intershipping Services deliver goods to a value of $10 billion each year.
The UK added another 135 tankers which it says carry Russian oil. Some of them are already sanctioned by the EU and/or United States.
