Russian pork exports overtake poultry shipments in revenue for first time - Agroexport center

MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax) - Russia exported pork totaling over $298 million and poultry totaling $295 million January-April, the Agriculture Ministry's Agroexport center said, citing expert estimates.

"This is a noticeable shift from last year, when poultry exports were significantly higher at $225 million versus $151 million for pork," Agroexport said.

Belarus at over $100 million, Vietnam at over $88 million, and China at over $50 million have been the main buyers of Russian pork this year. China at around $127 million, Saudi Arabia at over $71 million, and Kazakhstan at over $26 million have bought the most poultry.

Agroexport said that expanding supplies to key markets, especially to China, has driven growth in pork exports, thus Russia exported pork totaling over $50 million to China in the first four months of this year versus over $7.5 million the previous year.

Agroexport also said that demand remains high for Russian poultry, especially on the part of China.
