Uzbek and Kyrgyz payment systems launch service for direct transfers between countries

TASHKENT. July 17 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan's national payment system UzCard and Kyrgyzstan's Elkart have launched a service allowing for direct cross-border transfers between the two countries, the UzCard press service reported.

"UzCard and Elkart are launching a service for cross-border transfers between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz cardholders will now be able to send funds directly to UzCard cards, and Uzbek citizens to Elkart holders," the press release reads.

UzCard said that the service could already be accessed via the Elkart Mobile and Unired mobile applications.

In October 2024, UzCard and Elkart met in Tashkent and signed a memorandum of cooperation for the integration of the national payment systems. This will simplify the process for citizens of both countries to transfer money without using additional services, including international ones.
