Sverdlovsk Region to establish fifth site of Titanium Valley SEZ
YEKATERINBURG. July 17 (Interfax) - The authorities of Sverdlovsk Region plan to establish a fifth site of the Titanium Valley special economic zone (SEZ), the region's acting governor, Denis Pasler said at a press conference on Thursday.
"We have several sites at the moment, in Salda, Alapayevsk and Yetekaterinburg. Yes, in Salda it is not full yet, unfortunately, and for a very long time. But, at the same time [the sites] in Alapayevsk and Yekaterinburg, in terms of the plans and residents that we're currently discussing and the ones we already have now, are virtually full already. And I think we will go and establish one more site," Pasler said.
He said the region is interested in attracting investment and the creation of new businesses.
"A number of the most interesting projects, including ones that we plan to bring over from other regions, are already being carried out here. Specifically, we now already have about five completely new businesses in the works here," Pasler said.
The project to create the Titanium Valley SEZ began in 2010 and it now includes several sites totaling 521.5 hectares. The first phase is located in Verkhnaya Salda, the second on the land of the former Uktus airport in Yekaterinburg and the third in the Sysertsky district. The regional authorities have also sent a preliminary application to the Russian Economic Development Ministry to grant a site in Alapayevsk SEZ status and it is expected to be granted by the end of 2025.
The Titanium Valley website said the SEZ has 23 active residents, including 12 in Verkhnaya Salda and 11 at the Uktus site. The anchor resident of the first phase is Allegro LLC, a joint venture between Evraz NTMK and Rail Service LLC that makes railway wheels, and the anchor resident of the second is the Ural Civil Aviation Works.
The third phase in the Sysertsky district is expected to host logistics, warehouse and cosmetics manufacturing facilities costing 10 billion rubles, including a Sima-Invest LLC and Sima-Land Trading House LLC distribution center and manufacturing and warehouse complex, as well as an Uralbiopharm pharmaceuticals plant.
