ROSTOV-ON-DON. July 17 (Interfax) - Russian building materials manufacturer Technonicol plans to invest over 7 billion rubles this year in the construction of plants to produce rock wool and extruded polystyrene (XPS) in the Krasny Sulin industrial park in Rostov Region, the company's mineral insulation division reported.

"Construction work has begun at Technonicol's new production site in Rostov Region. Two company plants will appear at once in the Krasny Sulin industrial park, to produce thermal insulation from rock wool and XPS. A foundation pit has already been dug here and pile driving equipment has been prepared. Investment in the construction of the two plants will total 7.3 billion rubles in 2025 alone," the press release said.

The company expects to build the production shops and start installing lines by the end of the year and complete construction in July 2026. The general contractor for the rock wool plant is Russia's Art Holding, which specializes in designing and building large-scale industrial and civil facilities. A tender is now being held to select the contractor for the second project.

"The new production facilities will be located on a plot of 46 hectares, 25 of which will be occupied by the rock wool plant and 21 hectares [by] the XPS [plant]. Shops, as well as infrastructure will be built here by the end of the year. Next year there are plans to build a power plant with capacity of 20 MW that will be able to fully cover the needs of both plants. Outside storage will also be arranged for finished product and raw materials," the press release said.

The combined area of the industrial buildings will total about 29,000 square meters, including 20,000 square meters for the rock wool plant and almost 9,000 square meters for the XPS plant.

The new plants, which are expected to create 198 jobs, will manufacture rock wool and XPS thermal insulation for residential, public and industrial buildings, industrial insulation and materials for fireproofing structures.

"After the launch of the plants in 2026, Technonicol will have four operating plants on the Don, two of which for production of rock wool," company CEO Vladimir Markov said in the press release.
