Russia's Rosgranstroy selects contractor to construct road checkpoint at Russia-North Korea border

VLADIVOSTOK. July 15 (Interfax) - Federal state-owned enterprise Rosgranstroy, which handles border and customs control at checkpoints and crossings, has selected the winner of the auction to supply and install a complex of modular buildings at the future Khasan automobile checkpoint at the Russia-North Korea border.

The auction materials on the government procurement website indicate that two companies participated in the bidding, although the names have not been disclosed.

The winning bid was for 2.83 billion rubles with VAT, with an initial/maximum contract price of just over 2.979 billion rubles. The second bid was 2.845 billion rubles.

The winning bidder must complete the supply and installation work by January 29, 2027, under the terms and conditions of the contract. The federal budget will finance the work.

As previously reported, the Khasan checkpoint in Primorye, which will allow cars to cross the bridge between Russia and North Korea, will be designed to receive 300 vehicles and 2,850 individuals per day, with the possibility of increasing.

Sochi-based TonnelYuzhStroy LLC was previously determined to be the contractor to design and construct the automobile bridge across the Tumannaya River in Primorsk Territory at the border with North Korea. The work under the government contract must be completed by December 31, 2026.

On April 30, 2025, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and North Korean Prime Minister Pak Thae Song launched the construction of an auto bridge across the border river of Tumannaya. The bridge will be around 1 km long and have two traffic lanes. Construction is scheduled to be completed in a year and a half.

The only transport route currently between the two countries is the railway Friendship Bridge across the Tumannaya River, though its capacity is no longer sufficient.
