Ukraine needs over $40 bln in foreign financing for its 2026 budget - premier
MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax) - Ukraine's needs for foreign financing in 2026 remain at a level of above $40 billion, Ukrainian media quoted Prime Minister Denis Shmygal as saying.
"Ukraine's financial solvency remains a key priority of the Ukraine Donor Platform's work. The government submitted amendments to the law on the state budget at the end of June, where it increased defense spending by nearly $10 billion," media said with reference to Shmygal's post on his social account following his online address to the participants in the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.
Foreign financing is critically important for Ukraine, Shmygal said. "This year, Ukraine has already attracted $22 billion in foreign financing. At the same time, the year 2026 remains a challenge. Our needs for foreign financing will remain at a level of over $40 billion. The development of mechanisms and tools enabling us to raise these funds remains a key priority," Shmygal said.
As reported, Ukraine's need for foreign financing for its 2025 state budget was estimated at $39 billion.
It was also reported that Ukraine's need for foreign financing for its 2026 budget was also estimated at around $39 billion, and the sources of half of that amount were confirmed.
