Pashinyan, Aliyev agree on further bilateral negotiations, confidence building measures - Armenian Foreign Ministry
YEREVAN. July 10 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have discussed various items on the agenda of normalizing bilateral relations at a meeting in Abu Dhabi, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
"It was confirmed that bilateral negotiations constituted the most effective format for discussing all issues related to the normalization process, and a decision was made to continue result-oriented dialogue on that basis," the ministry said.
The leaders "noted progress in the border delimitation process and tasked respective state commissions with continuing practical work in that area," it said.
"The sides also agreed on further negotiations and confidence building measures," the ministry said.
Pashinyan and Aliyev thanked UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the hospitality and organization of their bilateral meeting.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow would welcome the anticipated conclusion of a peace agreement by Pashinyan and Aliyev at the meeting in Abu Dhabi, as that would bring peace and stability to the region.
"Of course, we welcome the fact of direct dialogue, and we have said repeatedly on various levels that we would welcome the soonest conclusion of the peace agreement," Peskov told the press.
"Signing this agreement will be a very important factor to add predictability, stability and peace to the region. We fully support this process," he said.
