Joint project with China to make wire planned in Russian Titanium Valley
YEKATERINBURG. July 8 (Interfax) - One of the residents of the Titanium Valley special economic zone (SEZ) plans to set up a joint venture with a Chinese partner to manufacture precision wire for electrolysis equipment, Sverdlovsk Region Deputy Governor Vasily Kozlov said.
"One of the residents of the Titanium Valley special economic zone, in cooperation with a Chinese partner company, is doing design work for the construction of a new enterprise to produce precision wire for electrolysis equipment. Two years ago we were just talking about this, but now we're already carrying out the practical implementation of this project. We hope that we'll get to licensing soon," Kozlov said at a session at the Innoprom-2025 international industrial exhibition.
He also said the regional authorities see potential in implementing projects to localize production of Chinese companies' products with high added value in Sverdlovsk Region.
"For example, we are already working with a Chinese corporation in the aerospace [...] industry [...] on setting up production of rotary steerable systems to meet the needs of Russian [...] mining companies," Kozlov said.
Preliminary agreements have also been reached to set up production of CNC machine tools, he said, without naming the participants in the project.
The project to create the Titanium Valley SEZ began in 2010 and it now includes several sites.
