Azerbaijan does not supply weapons to Ukraine, just humanitarian aid - Aliyev's aide
BAKU. July 8 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan does not supply any military components to parties to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Azerbaijani presidential aide, head of the presidential administration's foreign policy department Hikmet Hajiyev said.
"Russia is our neighbor. We have good, neighborly relations. It's the top priority of both Azerbaijan and any country in the world to have good relations with all neighbors. The same applies to Ukraine. [...] There is one more thing I should stress - the completely unwavering principle of territorial integrity is the primary cornerstone of Azerbaijan's foreign policy. Our country suffered a lot from the violation of that principle in the past. Hence, we definitively support the defense of the territorial integrity of other countries. At the same time, we keep our distance in order not to interfere in any way in the military confrontation between Russia and Ukraine," Hajiyev said in an interview with the Slovak media outlet Hospodarske Noviny.
Azerbaijan "maintains a safe distance from the supply of any military components in this conflict," Hajiyev said. "We provide nothing but humanitarian aid to Ukraine, above all children, who are suffering more than anyone else. We also supply certain types of crucial equipment, such as power generators. We take no part in military assistance or any actions," he said.
