Belarus grows meat exports via exchange 7-fold in H1

MINSK. July 7 (Interfax) - Belarusian meat processing companies sold over 27,000 tonnes of produce to overseas clients on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) in the first half of 2025, a 7-fold increase year-on-year, the press service of the exchange reported on Monday.

"Revenue from the sale of meat products via BUCE grew 13-fold to $129 million during the period," it said.

The press service of BUCE also said that the majority of deals involved the sale of frozen or chilled cattle meat.

"The increase in exports of Belarusian meat produce via the exchange is a reflection of the situation on the global market, where limited supply by key exporters such as Brazil, India, the U.S. and Argentina leads to a steady growth in demand for beef, primarily in China, Japan and the Republic of Korea. As a result, as many as four non-resident buyers compete for certain lots, causing an increase in export prices," the press service said.

According to data from the BUCE, over 100 foreign traders have made regular purchases of meat produce and animal by-products on the exchange this year and the majority of buyers were from Russia, Uzbekistan and China in the first half.
