New rotation of IAEA monitors occurs at Zaporozhye NPP
SIMFEROPOL. July 7 (Interfax) - A rotation of specialists of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has occurred again at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, representatives of the plant said on Sunday.
"A rotation of monitors of the International Atomic Energy Agency has happed at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant," the plant said on its Telegram channel.
This is the 28th rotation since September 1, 2022. The 29th team comprises three experts. "Their task, like before, is to monitor and assess the safety of the plant, both operational and physical," the plant said.
The last time the composition of the monitoring mission changed on May 25.
"Security during the rotation was ensured by servicemen of the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian Guard and employees of the Russian Interior Ministry's Main Directorate for the Zaporozhye region - their joint professional actions made it possible to organize the rotation reliably and promptly," the representatives of the plant said.
The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant with six VVER-1000 reactor units is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It stopped generating electricity on September 11, 2022. All six reactors are in a cold shutdown.
