Russia's Finance Ministry once again to switch to selling currency/gold as of July 7 at 820 mln rubles per day

MOSCOW. July 3 (Interfax) - Russia's Finance Ministry plans to sell foreign currency/gold under the budget rule totaling 18.77 billion rubles from July 7 to August 6, with the daily volume of transactions equivalent to 820 million rubles, the ministry said.

The Finance Ministry is buying currency and gold for 28.3 billion rubles from June 6 to July 4, or 1.5 billion rubles per day. A month earlier, from May 13 to June 5, the volume of purchases was 41.6 billion rubles, or 2.3 billion rubles per day. Before that, from April 7, the Finance Ministry sold currency and gold for 35.9 billion rubles, with the daily volume of transactions equivalent to 1.6 billion rubles.

The Finance Ministry expects lost oil and gas revenues to the federal budget to total 25.82 billion rubles in July. The deviation of the actual oil and gas revenues from the expected monthly volume at the end of June was 7.05 billion rubles.

The publication of new data by the Finance Ministry renders it possible to assess the volume of operations conducted by the Central Bank of Russia on the foreign exchange market.

The Central Bank will purchase or sell foreign currency based on the adjustment of the volume of operations announced by the Finance Ministry as part of the budget rule by the amount of sales totaling 8.94 billion rubles per day in the second half of 2025. Operations were adjusted for sales totaling 8.86 billion rubles in the first half of the year.

Consequently, the Central Bank will sell currency totaling 9.76 billion rubles per day as of July 7, taking into account the announced volumes of operations of the Finance Ministry. The bank is selling currency totaling 7.36 billion rubles per day from June 6 to July 4.
