Senior manager Igor Khafizov appointed CEO of Mechel
MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - Igor Khafizov has been appointed CEO of PJSC Mechel , having previously held the position of first deputy general director, the company said in a press release.
Oleg Korzhov, who headed Mechel since 2014, has left the company.
"Igor Valeryevich Khafizov is one of the most respected leaders in Russia's mining sector, who has dedicated many years of his professional career to Mechel Group. I believe that today, as the company faces serious challenges, his exceptional professionalism, charisma and vast experience will enable sound decision-making in finding a way out of the current crisis situation in the coal industry," Mechel Board Chairman Igor Zyuzin said regarding the leadership changes.
Mechel Group consolidates metallurgical, coal mining, energy and transportation assets. The main beneficiaries of Mechel are Igor Zyuzin and his family.
