Armenia extends ban on grain exports to non-EAEU countries for six months

YEREVAN. June 27 (Interfax) - Armenia's government has extended the ban on exporting grain and sunflower oil to non-Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries for six months, with the decision reached at a meeting on June 26 and the document published on the government's website.

The document stipulates that exporting wheat, meslin, barley, corn, buckwheat, sunflower seeds and sunflower oil is prohibited.

The government rationalizes the decision based on solidifying food security, given that domestic production of goods does not cover the needs of the Armenian market, as met through imports, specifically around two-thirds of wheat and nearly 100% of sunflower oil imported to Armenia from Russia.

The previously adopted decision to ban the export of these products expired on July 4.
