Inter RAO could build own gas turbine in next five years
ST. PETERSBURG. June 24 (Interfax) - PJSC Inter RAO is thinking of building its own gas turbines in the next five years, CEO Sergei Dregval told reporters on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
"We are thinking of building gas turbines in the next five years, we're looking at the project closely. We are considering various scenarios for the production of both medium-power and high-power turbines. Launching such production is a large-scale project, and the final decision will be made after full scrutiny," he said.
Dregval also said the company already produced "almost the entire range of primary generating equipment, as well as components" and provides maintenance services. "Objectively, there are still some difficulties with gas turbines, but all these difficulties are surmountable. The first localized high-power gas turbine has already been produced by Power Machines, it will be used at the Kashira GRES plant. I think everything will work out, and this first turbine will operate successfully in real conditions," he said.
A year earlier, when asked about a potential partnership on this issue, Dregval said Inter RAO was weighing several options, but "it will probably be difficult to do it alone."
