First two CPC mooring devices to be replaced with imported ones, only SPM-3 with domestic unit
MOSCOW. June 18 (Interfax) - The Caspian Pipeline Consortium will replace the No. 1 and No. 2 single point mooring devices with foreign-made units, not Russian ones, in 2026-2027, CPC CEO Nikolai Gorban told reporters at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025.
"The first two SPMs will be from the same manufacturer as SPM-3, though SPU-3 will be replaced directly with a Russian one. We have fully completed the design and developed the technology. The work is progressing, and even Russian caisson anchors will be manufactured by the end of this year, which we will launch at SPM-3 next year after the installation of these SPMs. This will probably be the second half of the year, closer to the end of 2026, and then the manufacture of the SPM itself and so on. That is, the third SPM will be replaced with a completely Russian one, manufactured in Russia, using our technology," Gorban said.
Gorban noted that the execution of the contract with the Russian manufacturer of the SPM has been suspended for now.
"This is the decision of the shareholders, but the developments have been preserved and may be applied in the future," he said.
