Russian Post resumes parcel delivery to N. Korea after it was suspended over Covid-19 in 2020

MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - Russian Post, Russia's national postal operator, has resumed parcel deliveries to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), which were suspended in 2020 over the Covid-19 pandemic, Russian Post said in a statement.

Russian Post and the North Korean Postal Service tested deliveries in May, and from now on, individuals and legal entities can send parcels weighing up to 20 kilos. Deliveries from Moscow to Pyongyang will take 15 calendar days, it said.

Parcels sent from Russia to North Korea will be delivered by plane from Moscow to Vladivostok, from where a partner North Korean airline will transport them to Pyongyang, it said.

"Russian Post is continuing to expand its export geography by opening or resuming links with new countries. The DPRK is an important strategic partner of Russia and a promising destination for various kinds of businesses," Russian Post quoted its CEO Mikhail Volkov as saying.

At the end of May, Russian Post resumed land deliveries to China, which were suspended in 2024 to implement a new multimodal solution.
