EU countries increase Azerbaijani oil imports 9% in Q1
BAKU. June 16 (Interfax) - European Union countries imported over 4.101 million tonnes of oil from Azerbaijan in Q1 2025, up 9% compared to the same period last year.
According to EU statistical office (Eurostat) data, the value of oil supplied from Azerbaijan to EU countries during the reporting period exceeded 2.426 billion euros, up 4.3%.
The top five importers were: Italy - 1.448 million tonnes (down 23.6%) worth 828.727 million euros (down 28.8%), the Czech Republic - 656,225 tonnes (up 10.1%) worth 386.383 million euros (up 7.5%), Germany - 460,857 tonnes (up 2.6-fold) worth 270.687 million euros (up 2.4-fold), Romania - 473,925 tonnes (up 1.9-fold) worth 271.825 million euros (up 1.7-fold) and Croatia - 268,648 tonnes (up 3.2-fold) worth 149.606 million euros (up 2.8-fold)
Other countries importing Azerbaijani oil in January-March 2025 included Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Portugal and Greece.
As reported, EU countries imported approximately 17.272 million tonnes of oil from Azerbaijan in 2024 (down 14.9% compared to 2023) worth 10.277 billion euros (down 17.1%).
