Glass Decor opens 3.6 bln ruble glass container plant in Mordovia

SARANSK. June 16 (Interfax) - Glass Decor Group has opened a plant to manufacture glass containers for the food industry in Ruzayevka, Mordovia, the Russian republic's leader, Artyom Zdunov said on Telegram.

Investment in the project totaled 3.6 billion rubles, including more than 900 million rubles in support provided by the Industrial Development Fund of Mordovia and state corporation VEB.RF.

The plant will melt 200 tonnes of glass per day and produce about 150 million bottles per year, Zdunov's press service said. It will initially produce colorless bottles and later start decorating its glass products.

In 2019, Razvitiye Glass Company LLC, a division of Glass Decor in Mordovia, resumed production of glass containers for the food industry at a glass plant in Ruzayevka that was shuttered in 2016.

Glass Decor announced plans to build a new glass container plant in Ruzayevka in 2021, with the cost initially estimated at 2.3 billion rubles. The group also has bottle production and decoration facilities in Moscow, Ryazan and Vladimir regions.
