Wildberries launches insurance for purchased goods against damage, breakage, theft
MOSCOW. June 11 (Interfax) - Wildberries, in partnership with the Defans Insurance company, has launched a service for insuring goods purchased on the marketplace with a focus on compensation for damage resulting from damage or breakage, according to a statement from the Wildberries-Russ united company.
The insurance will be valid for 30 days for 149 rubles, and it can be issued during the purchase process by adding the policy to the cart. Insurance coverage applies to all goods purchased during the policy period. It applies to accidental damage, product breakage that occurred during the period of use of the product and during the insurance period, breakage for which a return is not issued or is impossible, and theft or damage to goods by third parties in the event of illegal actions.
The insured party can receive compensation of up to 30,000 rubles in the event of an insured event, and the insured party can report an insured event in the Wildberries application, then the insurance company contacts the buyer directly.
Meantime, the insured party can cancel the issued policy within 14 days after purchase.
Wildberries has been developing insurance products since 2024 as part of the fintech direction.
In December, the company launched sales of digital insurance products aimed at compensating for damage owing to household risks. The insurance covered goods purchased on the marketplace and movable property in the house in the case of loss or damage owing to fire, flooding, natural disaster or theft. The policy also included health insurance for the buyer and relatives in the event of a long sick leave of over 21 days or hospitalization for more than 14 days as the result of an accident.
The press service of Wildberries-Russ clarified that the previous insurance product was closed in May in favor of launching the new one updated based on the results of customer research.
