Russia masters production of key equipment for hydrogen production via reforming method

MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - Russian engineers have designed and manufactured a prototype tube bundle for a steam reforming reactor used in hydrogen production plants, according to the project developer, engineering company TopTech.

Development of the design documentation and manufacturing of the equipment were handled by St. Petersburg-based CJSC Technohim Engineering Center. The completed prototype has been delivered and accepted by the customer.

The tube bundle constitutes the core component of a steam reforming reactor, which serves as key equipment in hydrogen plants. The bundle measures 13.5 meters in length and 1.3 meters in diameter. Special alloys resistant to corrosion and high temperatures exceeding 600 degrees Celsius were used in its production.

TopTech was established in 2022 and specializes in engineering design, technological project development and core technologies for synthesis gas, ammonia, methanol, hydroprocessing in oil refining, hydrogen sulfide utilization and sulfuric acid regeneration.
