Economic state of emergency ends in Transdniestria

TIRASPOL. June 9 (Interfax) - An economic state of emergency, which was declared in Transdniestria in December 2024 due to issues with gas supplies to the region, expired on Monday.

In total, this regime was extended five times. The unrecognized republic's Supreme Council decided at its meeting on Monday not to extend the regime, even though gas supply issues remain, as filling stations have been out of methane since June 6, and hot water has been cut off throughout the region until June 18. Transdniestrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky did not ask the Supreme Council to extend the state of emergency, and lawmakers went on vacation on Monday.

Krasnoselsky also canceled his 2022 decree banning the exports of timber from the region on Monday.

Transdniestria declared an economic state of emergency on December 11, 2024 for 30 days due to a risk of ceasing Russian gas supplies, which happened on January 1, 2025. Then the state of emergency was prolonged for 30 days five times.

The Moldovan parliament introduced a nationwide state of emergency for 60 days on December 16, 2024. The state of emergency was not prolonged after 60 days.
