Russia setting up Artificial Intelligence Development Center - dep PM
MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - The Russian government has decided to create an Artificial Intelligence Development Center to select and replicate standard AI solutions, coordinate government agencies, regions and businesses, provide expert and methodological support and organize international cooperation, the office of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko told journalists.
The AI Development Center is being created on the basis of the government's Analytical Center as a federal project office. Grigorenko will oversee its work.
"The introduction of AI in the economy, social sphere and public administration is already yielding results. Our task is to make those results accessible to all Russians and to make our country more competitive in world markets through the development of modern technologies. The Center is being created to coordinate the efforts of all stakeholders in the development of AI technologies in Russia," the office quoted Grigorenko as saying.
He recalled that the national "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of Government" project got underway in 2025, and the federal "Artificial Intelligence" project was a key element of this. In addition, each federal government body and each region has developed its own digital transformation programs, which spell out the tasks for introducing AI. All this work requires end-to-end coordination to synchronize the results, Grigorenko's office said.
The Center will also be tasked with replicating best practices that already exist in Russia - that is, solutions that have not only proven effective, but are also safe. The Center's responsibilities will also include regulation of AI technology security in Russia and organizing international cooperation.
