If result reached at Russian-Ukrainian talks, top-level contacts might be discussed - Kremlin
MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - If a result is reached at direct negotiations between a Russian and a Ukrainian delegation, top-level contacts could be considered afterwards, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"President Putin has said repeatedly that he is in favor of top-level contacts in principle, and certainly, they're essential. However, they should be prepared, and a result should be achieved first at negotiations between delegations, direct negotiations between delegations from the two countries. After that, if and when such a result is achieved, then certainly we might speak of top-level contacts," Peskov told journalists on Friday, in commenting on Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's statement that Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan would be willing to receive Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
