Belarus, Russia identify first groups of industrial goods to receive "Union State product" status
MINSK. May 28 (Interfax) - Belarus and Russia have agreed on a pilot project for manufacturing industrial goods that will receive the "Union State product" status, Head of the Belarusian Presidential Administration Dmitry Krutoi said at a meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers' high-level group in Smolensk.
"Today's high-level group agenda included consideration of the 'Union State product' status as one of the elements protecting our common market from unjustified imports. We've developed a consensus position to launch a pilot project covering four product categories - machine tools, buses, trucks and microelectronics," Krutoi was quoted by the state news agency BelTA as saying.
It is planned that the corresponding decision will be signed after final revisions, he said. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk will sign the document on behalf of Russia.
Work on the "Union State product" project concept is expected to be completed overall by the end of the year, he said.
