Ukrainian State Border Service updates border crossing statistics
MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax) - The number of people who crossed Ukraine's western borders over the week from May 17 to 23, 2025 increased by 1.6% to 499,000, Ukrainian media reported referring to the State Border Service's social media post.
The number of people who crossed into Ukraine last week grew by 2.5% to 245,000 from 239,000 the week before, while the number of those leaving Ukraine was up 0.8% to 254,000 from 252,000, it said.
The number of vehicles crossing the border increased to 125,000 from 123,000, while the number of vehicles carrying humanitarian aid cleared to cross the border was down to 517 from 526 the week before.
According to the United Nations Refugee Agency's reports updated on April 17, 2025, the number of Ukrainian refugees around the world was estimated at 6.918 million, or 15,000 fewer than on March 20, 2025, including 6.358 million in European countries outside of Ukraine.
Inside Ukraine, according to the UN's data as of the end of 2024, there were around 3.669 million internally displaced persons (IDPs).
