Azerbaijan boosts gas exports 6% in Jan-April - customs
BAKU. May 20 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan's gas exports declared at customs amounted to 8.16 billion cubic meters in January-April 2025, up 5.9% year-on-year, according to data from the country's State Customs Committee (SCC).
The value of exported gas reached approximately $3.065 billion, up 11.1%.
Gas shipments accounted for 34.9% of Azerbaijan's total exports compared to 33.77% in January-April 2024.
As reported, in 2024, Azerbaijan's declared gas exports totaled 25.772 bcm, down 3.2%, which were worth $8.4 billion, down 38.5%. Gas accounted for 31.7% of total exports, down from 40.4% in 2023.
The SCC maintains export statistics based on declarations of gas sold, which are provided after the actual sale has taken place, and not at the time of pumping through pipelines.
Azerbaijan has gas supply contracts with Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia, a short-term contract with Slovakia and a memorandum with North Macedonia. It has long-term contracts with a fixed supply volume with Italy, Greece and Bulgaria, and contracts without fixed volumes with the rest.
Azerbaijan also exports gas to Turkey via the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), and to Georgia via the SCP and Gazimagomed-Gazakh pipeline.
