Apple fined in total 7.5 mln rubles for LGBT propaganda - court

MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - Moscow's Tagansky District Court has fined Apple Distribution International Ltd. under two other protocols of propaganda of the LGBT movement, which has been recognized as extremist and banned in Russia, an Interfax correspondent has reported.

"Apple Distribution International Ltd. shall be given an administrative fine in an amount of 2.5 million rubles under each of the two administrative protocols," the court said.

Earlier on Monday, the court fined Apple 2.5 million for a similar offense. The total amount of the fines has thus reached 7.5 million rubles.

Apple has been subjected to liability in Russia for propaganda of non-traditional values for the first time.

The hearing was held behind closed doors as Apple representatives had said confidential data relating to the work of services and other classified information about the company could be revealed at the hearing.

Russian courts earlier fined Apple more than once for various offenses, including failure to delete information prohibited in Russia.

The Russian Supreme Court in November 2023 granted a lawsuit filed by the Russian Justice Ministry seeking recognition of the international movement LGBT as extremist and to ban it.
