Ukrainian State Border Service updates border crossing statistics
MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - The number of people who crossed Ukraine's western borders over the week from May 10 to 16, 2025 decreased by 4.3% to 491,000, Ukrainian media reported referring to the State Border Service's social media post.
The number of people who crossed into Ukraine last week grew by 2.1% to 239,000 from 234,000 the week before, while the number of those leaving Ukraine was down 9.7% to 252,000 from 279,000, it said.
The number of vehicles crossing the border decreased to 123,000 from 124,000, while the number of vehicles carrying humanitarian aid cleared to cross the border increased to 526 from 498 the week before.
According to the United Nations Refugee Agency's reports updated on April 17, 2025, the number of Ukrainian refugees around the world was estimated at 6.918 million, or 15,000 fewer than on March 20, 2025, including 6.358 million in European countries outside of Ukraine.
Inside Ukraine, according to the UN's data as of the end of 2024, there were around 3.669 million internally displaced persons (IDPs).
