Beijing, Minsk establish regular freight railway service

MINSK. May 16 (Interfax) - Belarus and China have launched regular freight rail service between the capitals of the two countries, the Xinhua news agency reported.

"A train with 55 containers departed from Beijing for Minsk on Thursday, marking the opening of regular rail service between the capitals of China and Belarus," Xinhua said.

"The train is delivering 293 tonnes of auto parts and other goods manufactured in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The train will cross the Chinese-Mongolian border at the Erenhot checkpoint and reach its destination in 15 days," the agency said.

The launch of the new route is expected to "help more Chinese-made products enter the global market and enhance their influence in the international market." It will also contribute to ensuring smooth trade in countries along the Belt and Road Initiative and "promoting their economic prosperity," according to the statement.
