Georgia awaiting U.S. response to relations' reset proposal - PM

TBILISI. May 15 (Interfax) - Georgia is still awaiting a reset of bilateral relations with the United States and is open to a strategic partnership, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.

"While Washington's response to our readiness has been delayed, we recently sent an open letter to the U.S. president and vice president expressing our surprise at the continued silence," Kobakhidze said on the Imedi television channel.

Georgia and the United States fully share values, and there is hope that a reaction from Washington is sure to follow, he said.

A deterioration of Georgian-U.S. relations under the previous U.S. administration resulted from a scenario of drawing Georgia into the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which was written by someone four years ago, he said.

"All that aggression started after Georgia refused to fulfill the plan, there is simply no other explanation," Kobakhidze said.
