Transmashholding could organize assembly of electric trains in Baranovichi - Belarusian Embassy

MINSK. May 14 (Interfax) - Transmashholding (TMH) is considering the possibility of opening a joint venture to manufacture electric trains in the city of Baranovichi, located in the Brest Region of Belarus, the press service of the Belarusian embassy in Russia said.

"Alexander Rogozhnik, Ambassador of Belarus to Russia, and Kirill Lipa, CEO of Transmashholding, which is Russia's largest machinery manufacturing company in the CIS, held a meeting. The status and prospects for expanding long-term cooperation between Belarusian enterprises and organizations that are part of the Transmashholding structure were discussed in detail," TMH said.

There are reports that "matters to implement a joint project to construct an assembly plant for electric trains in Baranovichi, to manufacture and supply internal combustion engines from the Kolomna plant for BelAZ, and to develop industrial cooperation further with the Belarusian company, Technolit, which manufactures components and spare parts for various types of equipment, were discussed."

Transmashholding is Russia's largest developer and manufacturer of modern multi-car railway rolling stock. The company's headquarters are in Moscow, and it has international divisions in Egypt, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. The holding includes 10 production and assembly sites in Russia and 30 other countries worldwide.
