Kazakhstan, UAE sign energy, transport and digitalization agreements
ASTANA. May 12 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates signed a number of agreements following talks between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the presidential press service reported.
The documents include a memorandum of cooperation in motor road transportation signed by Kazakhstan's Transport Ministry and the UAE's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, a memorandum of cooperation between the Justice Ministry of Kazakhstan and the Justice Ministry of the UAE, and a memorandum of understanding between Kazakhstan's Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.
Samruk-Kazyna and Masdar signed an agreement on round-the-clock power supply projects of up to 500 MW and an energy storage system of up to 2,000 MW.
Also, Samruk-Kazyna and AIQ inked a strategic cooperation agreement on digital transformation in Kazakhstan's oil and gas sector, and Kazakhstan's Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and the Aerospace Industry and the UAE-based Presight concluded an agreement to establish a supercomputer cluster in Kazakhstan.
National Company KazMunayGas JSC and Abu Dhabi Ports Group signed a protocol to expand Kazakhstan's trade fleet, while QazaqGaz and AIQ sealed a strategic agreement on digitalization in the oil and gas sector.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the administration of Kazakhstan's Turkistan region and the Abu Dhabi Development Fund to finance the construction of a maternity hospital in Turkistan. The hospital will be named after Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Kazakh Transport Ministry and Terminals Astana Airport Limited signed an agreement of investment in development of the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana and the territory adjacent to the airport.
The parties also announced during the signing ceremony the ratification of an agreement between the government of Kazakhstan and the UAE on a joint wind farm project.
