Uzbekistan plans to implement $3.6 bln worth of projects with ADB support in 2025-2026
TASHKENT. May 12 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a program envisaging the implementation of 23 new projects totaling $3.6 billion in 2025-2026, the press service of the Uzbek Investment, Industry and Trade Ministry said.
The document was signed during the annual meeting of the ADB Board of Governors in Milan.
"The projects cover key areas of socio-economic development - education, water supply and transport, as well as financial and technical support," the ministry said.
It was also decided to transfer the chairmanship of the ADB Board of Governors to Uzbekistan for 2025-2026 and to hold the next, 59th meeting of the board in Samarkand.
Uzbekistan joined the ADB in 1995. Since then, the bank has provided the country with loans, grants and technical assistance totaling $13.4 billion. ADB's current sovereign portfolio in Uzbekistan includes 34 loans, one grant, and two sovereign guarantees worth $4.88 billion.
