Ukraine boosts imports by 13% in first 4 months of 2025 while slightly cutting exports - State Customs Service

MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - Ukraine imported $24.8 billion worth of goods in January-April 2025, up 13.2% from the respective period of last year, while cutting exports from $13.4 billion to $13.3 billion, Ukrainian media said, citing the State Customs Service.

"At the same time, taxable imports amounted to $18.8 billion, which is 76% of the total volume of imported goods. The tax burden on one kilogram of taxable imports amounted to $0.51 per kilogram in January-April 2025," the State Customs Service said.

Same as in the previous two months, the largest amount of goods were imported in April from China - $5.2 billion, Poland - $2.3 billion and Germany - $2.1 billion.

The largest amount of goods were exported to Poland - $1.6 billion, Turkey - $932 million, Italy - $843 million.

In the total volume of goods imported in January-April 2025, 67% were machinery, equipment and vehicles - $9.1 billion (UAH 58.1 billion was paid to the budget as customs tariffs, which amounted to 28% of customs payments), chemical industry products - $4.2 billion (UAH 33.6 billion, or 16%), fuel and energy products - $3.3 billion (UAH 57.7 billion, or 28%).

The top three most exported goods from Ukraine included food products - $7.6 billion, metals and metal products - $1.5 billion, and machinery, equipment and vehicles - $1.2 million

In total, UAH 105.7 million were paid to the budget in the first four months of 2025 in the customs clearance of good subject to export duty.
