Kazakhstan may reduce flour exports 1.8% this agricultural year - Grain Union

ASTANA. May 5 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan is projected to export 1.85 million tonnes of flour in the 2024-2025 agricultural year (July 2024 - June 2025), down 1.8% compared to the previous agricultural year (1.884 million tonnes), according to a forecast provided by Yevgeny Karabanov, head of the Kazakh Grain Union's Analytics Committee.

Flour exports totaled 1.207 million tonnes in the first seven months of the current agricultural year (September 2024 - March 2025 inclusive), compared to 1.22 million tonnes in the same period of the previous agricultural year, Karabanov said on his Telegram channel.

Flour exports decreased 4% month-on-month in March. "The reason is the traditional decline in buyer activity due to Oraza [the Muslim fasting period] and the March holidays," Karabanov said.

The traditional markets for Kazakh flour exports are Central Asian countries, Afghanistan and China.
