Russia's Inter RAO ups electricity output 0.6% in Q1 to 36.22 bln kWh

MOSCOW. April 30 (Interfax) - Inter RAO increased electricity output 0.6% year-on-year in Q1 2025 to 36.22 billion kWh, the Russian electricity holding said.

Heat output fell 8.5% to 15.27 million Gcal.

Installed capacity had grown 1% to 31.2 GW as of the end of March.

Operating results were affected by the favorable situation on the day-ahead market as the load decreased on nuclear, hydro power and renewable energy sources in the first price zone which is European Russia and the Urals, and at the Angara cascade of hydroelectric power plants in the second price zone, which is Siberia, enabling some thermal power plants in the Urals and Eastern Siberia to increase their output.

In addition, results were influenced by a milder winter in 2025 and fewer days in 2025 compared to the leap year 2024, which led to a decrease in heat output, as well as an increase in the company's installed capacity.

Rosneftegaz was the principal shareholder of Inter RAO with 27.63% at the end of March 2024, and Inter RAO Capital held 29.56%. Federal Grid Company - Rosseti, formerly FGC UES and now merged with PJSC Rosseti , owned 8.57% at the end of 2021, and the free float was 34.24%.
