Ash cloud from Bezymyanny volcano reaches Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in Russia
PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. April 25 (Interfax) - The ash cloud spewed by the Bezymyanny volcano, which is now erupting, reached the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Friday, the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) of the Volcanology and Seismology Institute of the Far Eastern branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences said.
"The ash cloud over Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is reaching 3-5 kilometers above sea level," the team said on its Telegram channel.
The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's Kamchatka branch, for its part, told Interfax that it has not been alerted to the presence of volcanic ash in the region's administrative center.
Bezymyanny started to erupt on April 24. It spew several ash clouds, with the highest of them reaching 11 kilometers above the sea.
Bezymyanny, one of the world's most active volcanos, is located in Kamchatka, near Klyuchevskaya Sopka, about 40 kilometers from Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsk district. It is 2,882 meters tall.
