Vance proposes stopping Ukraine conflict approx. on current contact line

BRUSSELS. April 23 (Interfax) - The Ukraine conflict must stop immediately and be frozen on the current contact line, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said on Wednesday.

According to Western media reports, Vance said during his trip to India he believed it was time if not for the final step than for one of the final steps in a broad sense of the word: the sides should declare a ceasefire and freeze the contact line close to the current positions.

He said that the option implied the readiness of both Russia and Ukraine to make certain territorial concessions.

Vance also said on Wednesday it was time to accept Washington's propositions for the Ukraine conflict settlement or else the United States would quit the diplomatic process.

Earlier in April, U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States would stop trying to stop the Ukraine conflict if either side overcomplicates the process for some reason.
